On a daily basis, “what do I make for breakfast, lunch and dinner tomorrow?” takes up almost all the free time that the homemakers, working women, bachelors, college students get. Such a thought arises only when people do not wish to compromise their health & nutrition that a home cooked meal serves.
So, my mother-in-law (Vimala Janakiraman) and I (Suganya Gopu) used to sit and break our heads not to repeat the same the next or the day after, but we love our variety as well. Most of our households limit their gravies and side dishes because of the wastage involved. Don’t we all need a break from the regular cooking routine, but also don’t want to miss out on the comfort of a home made kuzhambhu?
That’s when we look out for options which wouldn’t give the satisfaction nor the comfort of having a hearty Kuzhambhu or side dish. Inspite of enjoying the outside food, our minds and tummies yearn for the comfort.
So, wouldn’t this be the struggle at every household, was the question that sparked the idea of Gravy Box. You might want to try different gravies every other day, so we have options both in vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Be it for one or four, your gravies are sorted with variety at affordable rates.. Also, one might ask, “I can buy one full meals for ₹50-70, why would I buy just gravy from you?”. With the idea of full meals, there will be variety of gravies, which serve as accompaniments.
Our concept is completely different wherein gravies are given importance as every household does. We use only peeled garlic for our non-vegetarian dishes and small onions for our sambhar which are all time consuming.. Nevertheless, we respect our ingredients to get them slow cooked just like they are supposed to be to serve food that reminds our customers of home.
